Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai’s name is among the names of the remaining governorship aspirants the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared to run in the 2019 governorship election.

The party, which released names of aspirants screened across states under the different zones, had hitherto omitted some names under North-west. Kaduna and Kano states were erroneously omitted from the previously released list.

When the attention of the party was drawn to the omission, Yekini Nabena, Publicity Secretary of the party, in a statement released an updated list.

But while the previous list showed that the party cleared many of the aspirants, some like Adebayo Shittu, Communications Minister, Adebayo Shittu, and Aisha Al-Hassan, Women Affairs Minister, were disqualified.

Shittu’s disqualification was for failing to undergo the mandatory one-year Youth Service for Nigerians, while no reason was given for Al-Hassan’s disqualification.

However, it is believed that her pledge of loyalty to Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and presidential aspirant under the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, some months ago may have been a contributing factor.

Below is the updated list
