Hundreds of youths from Zaria and other communities in Kaduna State have urged Senator Shehu Sani to vie for the 2019 governorship election in the state.

The call was made by officials of Senator Sani’s Contact and Mobilization Committee, who paid him a courtesy call yesterday in Kaduna.

They hinged their support on his   “populist approach and sympathy for the downtrodden.”

Chairman of the contact committee in Zaria, Alhaji Yakubu Umar, in his address, said the need for purposeful development in the state informed their decision to endorse Senator Sani.

“We started this committee with just seven people in this forum but today, our numbers have swelled to hundreds. We started from Zaria, but today we have followership in Soba, Sabongari, Ikara, Giwa, Saminaka and others,” he said.

Responding, Senator Sani commended them for asking him to contest for the Kaduna governorship in 2019, saying he would study the situation.

He condemned the planned sale of government quarters by Governor Nasir el-Rufa’i, saying instead of disposing what he did not built, the governor should build separate houses and sell them.

“We are duty bound to listen to those who elected us into office and recount our achievements and challenges,” he said.
