Hon. Garba Durbunde, the member of the House of Representatives, who was abducted along the Abuja-Kaduna highway, has been freed. This was confirmed by an aide of the lawmaker, Tunde Adela, who spoke to The Cable. He refused to go into details.

However, a source said the legislator was released after an undisclosed ransom was paid. Durbunde was said to have been kidnapped by unknown persons at Jere, on the Kaduna-Abuja Road at about 5pm, while returning to Abuja from Kano on Tuesday.

A statement issued on Wednesday in Kano by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Mohammed Garba, said Governor Abdullahi Ganduje was shocked by the incident, especially that it was happening during the Ramadan.
