Acting Secretary, Kaduna State All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Yahaya Baba Pate has said that as far as the political misunderstanding between Governor el-Rufa’i and Senator Shehu Sani is concerned, the el-Rufa’i camp has decided not to join issues with the Senator.
In this interview with Saturday Sun, the acting scribe of the state APC added that ignoring Senator Sani became imperative, because he is a suspended member of the party.
Some members of the APC splinter group in the state, otherwise known as APC-AKIDA are saying that the party has been reduced to Government House APC. Is there anything like that?
APC is one in Kaduna State, ably led by our Acting Chairman in the person of Alhaji Shaibu Idris, and the rest of the executive members. We have been one, we don’t know any opposition in Kaduna. We are one family, and we are discharging our duties as stipulated in the party’s constitution. So, APC is one in Kaduna State, we are not aware of any faction called APC-AKIDA.
There is a political fight between Senator Shehu Sani and Governor el-Rufa’i. When do you think this fight will end?
Well, we will continue to maintain our position that we don’t want to join issues with Senator Shehu Sani. He is on suspension indefinitely, so we don’t want to join issues with him.
Is he still on suspension?
Yes, he is on suspension indefinitely.
Who is responsible for the lifting of the suspension?
Those that are saddled with the responsibility of managing party affairs at different levels in Kaduna State, most especially from his ward in Kaduna South, the zonal leadership and the State leadership, all affirmed his suspension indefinitely. So, I think his suspension followed due process. Until the party deems it fit or when he becomes remorseful, and becomes a loyal party member and abide by the rules and regulation of the party as stipulated in the constitution, the party may decide, I said may decide, to bring out their different position and decide on what to do.
What is your advice to Governor el-Rufa’i, looking at some forces battling him?
The government of APC in Kaduna State, ably led by Malam Nasir Ahmed el-Rufa’i has been focused, our governor has been implementing the party’s manifestoes. As you know, just recently, even the national chairman of our party, Chief John Oyegun also affirmed that Governor el-Rufa’i is on track, he is bringing development in Kaduna State. In the educational sector, he is doing tremendously well, in agriculture, health sectors, roads construction and what have you. The governor has never been distracted by the so-called opposition, his focus is to deliver on the good promises he made to the people of the state.
What is your advice to the forces against el-Rufa’i?
I am advising all Kaduna people to support the government, to support the governor on what he is doing to make the State great again, to revive the health sector, the educational sector, agriculture sector, trying to bring investors to Kaduna State so that our teeming youths can get jobs, the economy of the State can be boosted. So, I call on all citizens of Kaduna State, regardless of political differences to support the APC-led government; to support Malam Nasir el-rufa’i in his quest to make Kaduna great again.
