The District Head of Jere in Kagarko local government area of Kaduna state, Dr. Ishaq Usman said there are still isolated cases of kidnapping of innocent people along Jere-Bwari Expressway. It would be recalled that two people were reportedly kidnapped and another shot when armed men attacked their vehicle on 10th March, 2017 along Bwari- Jere highway. The highway is an alternate route that links the Nigerian capital, Abuja, to Kaduna state.

The district head who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Kaduna described kidnapping of innocent people for ransom as a sad development which must be stopped.
He said, “Such kidnapping are carried out by selfish individuals who are desperately looking for money even though effort by the federal and state government has drastically reduced kidnapping in the community.
“Government both at the state and federal levels have given it a top priority by stationing security personnel in strategic areas along that route. We have also sensitized  our people on the need to be vigilant by reporting cases of kidnapping to right authorities.
“Whenever there is kidnapping case along Kaduna-Abuja express way people always point finger at Jere but most times you will find out that the case didn’t happen in Jere.
“We want people to know that effort by federal and state government has drastically cut down the issue of kidnapping in the area. But we still have isolated cases of kidnapping in the area. They are done by selfish individuals due to economic challenges. But it’s not an excuse because they need to sit up and work hard to earn a living not to resort to kidnapping people.
“Kidnapping is highly immoral and in human. This thing don’t happen in the past but with the advent of technology advancement such as GSM, etc, now people use them to commit crimes against innocent people. This must stopped and those doing it we pray they see reason to stop.”
On the crisis in Southern Kaduna, the District head said no region can develop without peace, adding that there is a relationship between peace and development which means any region in need of development must embrace peace.
He, therefore, appeals to  Southern Kaduna residents to  embrace peace and love one another so that the area can develop.
