The structure erected as a symbol for the foundation of the proposed Nigerian Army Battalion in Southern Kaduna has been destroyed.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai and the state Governor Nasir El-Rufai had last week laid the foundation for the establishment of the battalion at Ungwan Yashi area of Zangon Kataf Local Government of the state.
Our correspondent learnt that security agents patrolling the area discovered yesterday morning that the structure has been destroyed leaving behind rubbles.
The state governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has been briefed on the matter and described the situation as unfortunate.
The governor, according to his media aide, Samuel Aruwan, said the situation confirmed that there are conflict entrepreneurs in the Southern Kaduna crisis who are determined to continue to create obstacles and setback to stabilization and peace building efforts.
The governor said: “The situation is unfortunate, condemnable and a setback to the government’s communal stabilization and peace building efforts, but we will not be deterred.”
